Coaching Career
In High Schools
Chris Mack has trained numerous teams for basketball, including teams from colleges, institutions, and schools. In 1993, he began his coaching career at a very junior level. He was selected to lead the girls’ squad at McAuley High School as a junior head coach.
In 1995, he also served as the head coach of the Mount Notre Dame High School girls’ basketball team. That was Mack’s first step to the success and notoriety he enjoys today; in 1996, the Cincinnati Post awarded him “Coach of the Year”.
In Colleges
Not only did he work hard to earn the right to lead basketball teams at the collegiate level, but he also performed a great deal of work to advance in the role.
He was hired solely as a director at Xavier University in 1999, and he later worked as Wake Forest’s assistant coach in 2001.Afterwards, in 2004, he returned to Xavier, but this time he joined as Sean Miller’s top assistant. and eventually, after a long period, the Xavier declared that the Mack will lead the team as head coach.
This actually occurred in 2009 when Sean Miller, the former head coach, chose to join the University of Arizona instead of staying at Xavier. They then decide that Chris Mark will take over as senior head coach of their basketball squad. Then, in 2010, following the MAK Guide team’s arrival at position 25. Mack also won Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year honors at this time.
Mack served as the Xavier coach until the middle of 2018. During that time, he won multiple national Coach of the Year honours and guided the team to the pinnacle of the great rating.
In University
He received an offer in March 2018 to take up a seven-year, $4 million-a-year head coaching position at the University of Louisville. The Tha Mack squad was ranked as the top national basketball team in 2019.
Mack was expelled from the University of Louisville when it was alleged that he had broken rules. After Mack was fired, Louisville paid him $4.8 million over three years.
Mack rejoined the College of Charleston men’s basketball team for a five-year contract for around $1.1 million annually following a two-year break from coaching. And as of 2024, he remains the College of Charleston’s head coach.
